Connective Tissue is an artists’ book made of 30 double sided cards and a handmade box. This project is an intergenerational and familial comparison of corporeal experience. For Connective Tissue, I interviewed my mom, a physical rehabilitation therapist, about the ways she thinks about health and illness. In the book I intertwine her narrative with my own. What results is an intergenerational look at what’s passed down, and what isn’t, in the ways we navigate bodily experience. The front of the cards display images echoing the body, originally produced as photo-lithographic prints. The back of the cards display text.
